EDGE Youth Ministry

Our EDGE Youth Group meets on Friday nights from 7-9pm for those in 7th-12th grades. Our Youth ministry consists of two groups that meet separately, one for Jr. High Students in Grades 7-9, and another one for Sr. High Students in Grades 10-12. Although these groups will meet separately for regular youth group activities, they will continue to join together for the Word of Life Superbowl, Word of Life Snow Camp, and other outreaches and Christian Service Events.

Our current focus for 2015/16 will be on helping every teen and leader to have an Every Day GOD Encounter (EDGE)  in serval ways:

  • All teens are encouraged and taught to have a time of  daily reading and journaling of God’s word. Likewise daily prayer and monthly scripture memorization are part of the program. Teens and Leaders can use the Word of Life Diary or any other printed or online devotional resource that they choose.  Journaling books are available for $5 each and include the club logo and a pen.
  • Our Friday night program is primarily DISCIPLESHIP focused.   Evangelistic outreaches are planned every other month on a Saturday afternoon or evening.
  • EVERY Teen is encouraged to work toward the goal of going on a short term mission’s trip to assist one of our current missionaries during their high school years.  To prepare for the missions  trip, students must show themselves faithful in scripture reading, memorization, church attendance and service for Christ, during the year BEFORE they take the trip.
  • Older Teens are taught how to help to mentor younger teens through an accountability partnership.
  • All Teens and Leaders will be encouraged to faithfully participate in weekly Sunday School Classes as well as Sunday Services.

We are excited to see how God can use our teens to accomplish His will and to bring Him glory as the learn to live for and serve Him on a daily basis!

Awana Clubs

Welcome to the AWANA children's club!

We invite you to bring your children to one of our three AWANA Clubs for young people three years old through sixth grade. If you have older children, our church has a Word of Life Teen Ministry for seventh – twelfth graders that also meets on Friday nights from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.

All clubs and programs meet weekly on Friday evenings from 7:00 to 8:45 pm. Our AWANA Clubs are part of more than 17,000 AWANA Clubs, which operate around the world. These community clubs are open to all youth and have children attending from many different faiths and churches. While your child is not required to attend the functions of our church, all of our church services and opportunities are available to your family.

An AWANA Club meeting consists of three parts: games, Scripture memory, and a Bible lesson time. Each of these activities help to ensure your child is able to learn scripture and have fun doing it! While the church supplies our facilities and equipment, each clubber should bring $1.00 weekly to provide treats and special supplies. After your first club meeting, your child will bring home an entrance booklet, which is the first step in AWANA achievement. We hope you will help your child complete this booklet! After completing the entrance booklet, your child is eligible to earn more awards as a member of AWANA, including a uniform and uniform decorations. Clubbers also earn Awana "bucks" which can be used to purchase gifts in the an Awana store, held every few weeks.

Our AWANA Club age groups are:

  • Cubbies: Three  and four years old
  • Sparks: Kindergartner through second-grade
  • Truth & Training: Third- through sixth-grade

Our goal in Awana is to want to work with you the parents in providing balanced spiritual, physical, social, and mental activities for your child. We would love to meet with you and discuss this opportunity!

If you do not have a church home, we would also like to invite you to visit our church. Sunday school meets at 9:30 am with classes for all ages. The worship service for children and adults meets at 10:30 am.

Awana Theme Verse

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Junior Church

During our regular Sunday morning church service, we also offer a junior church service for children ages 3-9. During this service, the children worship God through songs, prayer time, Bible teaching, and activities. Snacks are also provided. Children begin worship in the sanctuary with their parents, and then are dismissed to junior church on the last verse of the last song before the morning message. At this time, the children are escorted to their classrooms to participate in age appropriate worship. After the service, parents can pick up their children from the classrooms above the gym. Junior church is made up of two classes: ages 3-6 and ages 7-9.

Adult Small Groups

Our adult small Bible study groups consist of several different groups to help you grow spiritually in the area you need most. Small groups meet a various times, however most of our groups meet on Sunday morning at 9:30am or on Friday night at 7:00pm during our Awana and Word of Life Youth programs. These groups fall into a few general catagories designed to help our adults grow in their relationship to the Lord, and in spiritual maturity.

  1. Godly Living – Groups that will cover what it means to be a Christian in a secular world, and how to live out your faith in the various aspects of your everyday life.
  2. Biblical Literacy and Insight –Courses that are designed to help you get to know your Bible better, and to strengthen your understanding of its message.
  3. Spiritual Leadership and Ministry Preparation –These courses will focus on spiritual leadership in the home, the church, and in ministry.

In addtion to offering small group studies in the above topics, some of our groups are tailored specifically for women, and some specifically for men. At various times we also offer groups specifically focusing on married couples and Biblical parenting.

Here is an example of a typical our typical small group study offering:

Godly Living:

Women’s Group: Learning from the Life of Elijah - Elijah made an extraordinary difference for God in his time, and yet, Elijah was just an ordinary man. He dealt with the same shortcomings and problems in his own life that many of us face today. Learn how Elijah faithfully and powerfully served the Lord despite the difficulties that could have held him back.

Men's Group: Disciplines of a Godly Man - Learn how to live an effective godly life through the biblical disciplines. Share with other men as you grow spiritually together towards what God has called you to be.

Biblical Literacy and Insight:

Lessons from Life and Experience of Job -Job, a man of godly character, faced severe financial loss, family loss, and personal suffering. Learn the biblical principles Job experienced in both the physical and spiritual side of his circumstance, and how they can help you understand and relate to God in your own life experience.

Spiritual Leadership and Ministry Preparation:

Multiply - Disciples Making Disciples - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matthew 28:19) Jesus has called us to BE disciples and to MAKE disciples. This group will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to be an effective disciple maker for Christ.

Women's Group:Becoming a Titus 2 Woman - Titus 2 defines how women grow in godly character as they disciple other women in true Christian living. Grow together with other women as you learn these godly characteristics of Christian women, and how to train other woman to live that godly life.

Sunday Morning Worship Services

Worship is a time of lifting our praises to God, as well as a time of intensive Bible teaching, exhortation, and growth. If you’re looking for no-nonsense preaching mixed with a passion to reach the lost and compassion for those who are hurting all around us, you will feel right at home at First Baptist Church. Our Sunday Morning Services begin at 10:30AM and involve enthusiastic singing, special music and practical relevant teaching from God's Word.

A typical worship service includes an opening time of singing hymns and praises, followed by some brief announcements, prayer and a time of welcoming one another. We continue the service by singing together, as well as enjoying some instrumentals and special music. Before the preaching service, children will be dismissed to junior church.

During the preaching service Pastor Dragula will focus on a Bible passage, explaining principles from God's word and helping us to make application to our lives. The service will close with congregational singing and a prayer, and there will be a time of food and fellowship immediately following in the gym for those who wish to stay.A nursery is provided for all babies and toddlers during the complete worship service.

Come and experience the joy of knowing God in a family atmosphere of love and encouragement!
